Consistent onboarding
New workers productive in days, not weeks.
Peak season hands you 200 new faces on a Monday and a trainer who can’t clone herself. how.fm lets every new worker self-onboard — in their own language, at their own pace, with a quiz that proves they actually understood.
Self-onboarding
The classroom becomes optional.
New workers open a course on a (most often) shared tablet or (less often) their own phone and work through Reels-like slides with voice-over. No waiting for the next scheduled training slot, no interpreting colleague improvising in the break room.
- 30+ languages, translated and voiced automatically
- Anonymous access for temps, optional SSO for permanent staff
- Trainers can focus on coaching the few who struggle instead of repetitively lecturing everyone
These digital courses come from your own standards. See how.fm Learn for how training builds itself.
Peak cohorts
Built for hundreds of starters at once.
Onboarding one person is easy. Onboarding a peak cohort of 200–300 across three shifts is where classroom plans collapse. Self-onboarding scales sideways: every worker starts the moment they arrive, and completions land in one dashboard with certificates you can search, download, or get sent to your API of choice.
- Same content, same quality, whether 5 people start or 300
- Quiz-gated completion: understanding is checked, not assumed
- Works in the browser or on shared MDEs or kiosk tablets, no new device rollout needed
Your process knowledge feeds it all: capture once with the how.fm Recorder or how.fm Editor, and AI turns it into structured steps.
Skill Matrix
Know who’s ready for which job role.
Ramping fast only helps if you can see it. The how.fm Compliance & Skill Matrix shows onboarding progress and qualifications per worker, per team, per site — so the shift plan reflects who can actually do the job today.
- Onboarding status at a glance, across teams and sites
- Certifications with optional expiry notifications before they are due
- Audit-ready exports or API when someone asks who trained whom in your own systems
Common questions
What ops leaders ask about onboarding
How fast can a new worker actually start?
Most customers get new workers through safety briefing and first job instructions on day one. The worker self-onboards on a tablet or their own phone, in their own language, and a quiz confirms they got it.
Do temp workers need an email address or other ID?
No. Anonymous access codes work for temp and agency staff. Optional SSO can cover your permanent team.
What about workers who don’t read well?
Every course plays with text-to-speech voice-over and visual steps, so reading level stops being a filter. That widens the pool of people you can hire and keep.
