Customer story
16 languages in use

Training reaches a workforce with many different language backgrounds.

+50% seasonal workforce

Additional order pickers can be prepared quickly for peak demand.

100+ external drivers

Truck drivers complete required site training before handling goods.

600+ training sessions yearly

Recurring internal instruction supports a safe working environment.

1,000 stores in Germany

A national retail network depends on reliable logistics standards.

13,000+ products

Items must be handled, sorted, and distributed consistently.

The operating reality

Six hundred people, seasonal peaks, and a standard that cannot slip.

Fressnapf needed training to work across internal teams, external drivers, multiple sites, and a workforce where language could no longer be an afterthought.

Language barriers

A diverse workforce needed to learn complex safety and process content in the language each person understood best.

Seasonal fluctuation

Peak periods can add 50% more order pickers, all of whom need to become productive within a few weeks.

Audit-ready evidence

A 60-page paper briefing and signature process needed to become easier to deliver, understand, and document.

A growing network

New logistics capacity required fast, repeatable training despite limited key personnel and intense time pressure.

The transformation

From a 60-page document to training people can finish and prove.

Fressnapf’s annual safety training had become difficult to administer. The printed German and English material was long, every employee needed to sign it, and language barriers made learning outcomes uncertain.

Johanna Latham, Project Manager for Warehouse Operations, digitized the program with how.fm. Tablets in each department now deliver interactive content in 16 languages, supported by voice and short video sequences.

Certification before a driver arrives

External truck drivers visiting Krefeld, Feuchtwangen, and Duisburg can complete a 10–15 minute course in advance or on site. A quiz confirms understanding and produces a digital certificate before the first pallet is moved.

Digital where it helps; hands-on where it matters

Practical skills such as forklift operation remain instructor-led. Theory, safety standards, and recurring briefings run digitally. That balance improves consistency without separating learning from the real work.

Ready for the next site

When the Neuruppin logistics center opened, how.fm became part of the ramp-up plan for roughly 100 workers. The same approach can support further expansion into northern Germany, Denmark, and Poland.

The how.fm software has proven itself to be sustainable, and the integrated tests ensure learning success. We use 16 languages to reduce barriers and can train more than 100 truck drivers in advance—saving time and reducing costs.

The outcome

Less administration. More confidence at scale.

Fressnapf can now respond to seasonal staffing changes, train external suppliers before arrival, and deliver safety content in the worker’s preferred language—all through one trackable system.

The shift from paper to interactive courses saves time and resources while strengthening audit readiness. Most importantly, the training model can grow with the network without lowering the quality of the standard.

Scale the operation. Keep the standard.

Turn your safety briefings and work instructions into training that follows every worker, supplier, and site.
