How Bohnen trains at Duisport
Workers get a dedicated, quiet place to learn while supervisors stay focused on live operations.
With how.fm, we found the right partner for scalable health and safety training, standards, and efficiency gains across sites.
The challenge
A new site needed standards without the slowdown.
Bohnen Logistik needed to move from repeated, trainer-led explanations to a system that workers and leaders could rely on every day.
Make safety part of the culture
Bohnen wanted evidence of completed safety training without treating compliance as a paperwork exercise.
Train at high volume
New colleagues had to be ready quickly throughout the year, without pulling experienced people away from the floor.
Protect supervisors’ time
During ramp-up, key people were needed everywhere. Repeating the same standard briefing was a costly bottleneck.
Keep instructions current
The team needed process documentation that could be updated and redistributed as soon as the operation changed.
The approach
Start with safety. Expand into the work itself.
Bohnen Logistik began using how.fm during the June 2020 ramp-up of a new warehouse. The first courses covered occupational safety and optimized picking, giving every new worker the same foundation from day one.
The library then grew into role-specific theory, practical knowledge, and work instructions. Experienced employees could spend their time on urgent operational work while new colleagues learned independently and in their preferred language.
A training space people could use
The team created a dedicated off-the-job area with a comfortable seat, tablet, and noise-cancelling headphones. It made training feel intentional—not like another task squeezed into a noisy shift.
A standard that keeps improving
Bohnen can now update process documentation and training manuals itself, translate changes in seconds, and collect usability feedback directly from workers. The reported system usability score rose beyond 86 out of 100.
